17th RAIDO Newsletter – August 2026

RAIDO AUGUST 2026 NEWSLETTER

This issue highlights RAIDO’s latest progress in Trustworthy and Green AI, from more efficient AI solutions for sustainable farming and personalised healthcare to key technical developments across the RAIDO platform. It also presents two public deliverables focusing on the project’s Data Lake and blockchain-based process monitoring.

Artificial Intelligence can support more efficient and sustainable food production, but developing reliable AI solutions often requires large datasets and significant computing resources. This article explores how RAIDO’s Smart Farming pilot combines synthetic data generation with model compression and knowledge distillation to develop smaller, energy-efficient AI models for fungal-based food production. The approach supports faster contamination detection while reducing data collection needs and computational demands.

This public deliverable presents the RAIDO Data Lake, which provides the core data infrastructure supporting the project’s AI workflows. Designed to manage diverse datasets and AI models across all four RAIDO pilots, the Data Lake enables secure and scalable data storage, retrieval and management while supporting both cloud and on-premises deployments. It also contributes to RAIDO’s Green AI objectives by monitoring infrastructure resource use and energy consumption.

This public deliverable presents RAIDO’s blockchain-based monitoring component, designed to improve transparency and traceability across AI and data optimisation processes. By combining a permissioned blockchain with IPFS-based evidence storage, the solution provides an auditable record of key workflow events and results without storing large or sensitive data directly on-chain. This lightweight approach supports reliable process monitoring while remaining aligned with RAIDO’s energy-efficient AI objectives.
