RAIDO MAY 2025 NEWSLETTER.
Welcome to the Raido Project’s May newsletter! This issue summarizes our key activities, achievements, and upcoming plans covering April and May 2025.
SUMMARY
The April-May 2025 period marks a transformative chapter for the RAIDO project, characterized by exceptional achievements in international collaboration, strategic partnerships, and dissemination activities. The successful completion of our Florence Plenary meeting and ICTP/ITU/IRCAI TinyML Workshop in Malawi has strengthened our global presence, while the addition of a new strategic partner and significant advances in our dissemination infrastructure demonstrate the project’s growing impact and recognition within the international AI research community.
During this period we expanded our consortium with the addition of the Khalifa University of Science and Technology (UKAL), and made remarkable progress in our dissemination capabilities through the establishment of our Zenodo community and enhanced social media presence. These achievements reflect the project’s continued evolution and strengthening position in the global trustworthy AI landscape.
MEETINGS & DISCUSSIONS
The April-May period has been marked by exceptional coordination activities, highlighted by the highly successful Florence Plenary meeting held from April 8-10, 2025 [Florence 1], [Florence 2]. This comprehensive three-day event brought together all consortium partners for intensive collaboration sessions, strategic planning discussions, and technical coordination activities. The plenary provided invaluable opportunities for face-to-face collaboration, detailed technical reviews, and strategic alignment across all work packages. Participants engaged in productive sessions covering milestone achievements, future planning, and cross-partner collaboration enhancement.

The May General Assembly online meeting maintained our regular coordination momentum, providing essential continuity following the intensive plenary sessions. This session focused on consolidating outcomes from the Florence meeting, coordinating ongoing activities, and ensuring sustained progress across all technical and administrative domains.
EVENTS
The RAIDO project successfully participated in the ICTP/ITU/IRCAI TinyML Workshop in Malawi [link] from March 30 – April 4, 2025, representing a significant milestone in our international engagement and outreach activities. This workshop provided exceptional opportunities to showcase RAIDO’s energy-efficient AI methodologies in resource-constrained environments, demonstrating the practical applicability of our approaches in developing regions. The participation enabled valuable knowledge exchange with international experts and provided insights into deploying AI solutions in challenging environments with limited computational resources.

The workshop’s focus on TinyML (Tiny Machine Learning) applications perfectly complemented RAIDO’s energy-efficient AI optimization objectives, providing practical perspectives on implementing machine learning in resource-constrained devices. Our team gained valuable insights into global AI deployment challenges and opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to developing inclusive and sustainable AI solutions that can address diverse global contexts. Additionally, MINDS, one of our key consortium partners, participated in SEW2025 European Startup Week at the ZEP Campus auditorium of University of Western Macedonia, on May 12, 2025 [Event] [LinkedIn]. During the panel session, MINDS had the opportunity to engage directly with the local entrepreneurial community, answering informative questions about trustworthy AI applications and the potential impact of RAIDO technologies on small and medium enterprises. This engagement demonstrated RAIDO’s commitment to making advanced AI solutions accessible to local businesses and startup communities across Europe and provided valuable insights into regional innovation needs.

PUBLICATIONS
While no new publications were specifically completed during the April-May period, the establishment of our Zenodo RAIDO Community [RAIDO Community] represents a significant milestone in our dissemination strategy. This dedicated repository now houses five published papers from our research activities, creating a centralized, accessible platform for sharing RAIDO research contributions with the global scientific community. The Zenodo community enhances the discoverability and impact of our research outputs while providing long-term preservation and accessibility for our scientific contributions.

The creation of this repository demonstrates our commitment to open science principles and ensures that RAIDO research outputs remain accessible to researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders worldwide. This infrastructure will support ongoing dissemination activities and provide a robust platform for sharing future research contributions as the project continues to advance. [LinkedIn Post].
Additionally, a new LinkedIn was created page due to technical difficulties with the previous page. This new [RAIDO Project page] provides enhanced capabilities for professional networking and project visibility within the AI research community, and generally the whole world.
UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
The project trajectory for the coming months builds upon the substantial momentum generated through our recent plenary meeting and international workshop participation. June and July 2025 will focus on leveraging the strategic directions established during the Florence Plenary meeting, with particular emphasis on advancing pilot implementation activities and strengthening cross-partner collaboration initiatives identified during intensive planning sessions.
The integration of our new consortium partner, UKAL, will be a priority focus, ensuring optimal utilization of their expertise in trustworthy AI development and international collaboration capabilities. This integration will enhance our project’s global reach and technical capabilities, particularly in areas related to ethical AI frameworks and cross-cultural AI deployment considerations.
