Globally recognized for its academic excellence and research innovation, TCD is home to the Centre for Innovative Human Systems (CIHS). The CIHS plays a crucial role in advancing research focused on ethics, user-centered design, and technology integration, striving to create effective and sustainable solutions that enhance human experiences within complex systems.

Role in RAIDO

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is central to the RAIDO (Reliable AI and Data Optimization) project, leading efforts in societal impact assessment and user engagement. Through the Centre for Innovative Human Systems (CIHS) within the School of Psychology, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr. Paul Liston, TCD is responsible for:

• User-Centric Research Design: Directly engaging with users through interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires to thoroughly understand their needs and requirements. This ensures that the AI solutions developed within RAIDO are practical and aligned with user expectations.
• Enhancing AI Transparency and Acceptance: Working to develop AI solutions that are easily understandable and transparent to all stakeholders. This focus aims to foster behavioral change and broader societal acceptance of AI technologies.

The CIHS at TCD specializes in critical research areas such as risk, sustainability, well-being, human factors, change, and system design. These areas are fundamental to the objectives of the RAIDO project, and TCD’s contributions are vital in developing trustworthy and green AI solutions that are both ethically sound and socially accepted.
