4th RAIDO Newsletter – September 2024

WELCOME TO THE RAIDO SEPTEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER.

These past couple of months has been particularly exciting for the RAIDO project, with significant publications, a successful plenary meeting, and important progress toward our first major milestone. We’re pleased to share these developments as we continue advancing trustworthy and green AI solutions.

PUBLICATIONS

We are proud to announce the publication of two significant research papers from our consortium this month:

  • SignTrack: Advancements in Real-Time Sign Language Processing for Inclusive Computing with optimized AI [link], published in IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society ( Volume: 6). This groundbreaking paper presents innovative approaches to real-time sign language processing, demonstrating RAIDO’s commitment to inclusive computing solutions. The research showcases how optimized AI can enhance accessibility and bridge communication gaps for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
  • Applied Federated Model Personalization in the Industrial Domain: A Comparative Study [link], presented at the 2024 13th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST). This comprehensive study explores federated learning approaches in industrial settings, providing valuable insights into model personalization techniques. The research aligns perfectly with RAIDO’s objectives of developing trustworthy AI solutions that can be deployed across diverse industrial applications while maintaining privacy and efficiency.

Both publications represent significant contributions to the scientific community and demonstrate the high-quality research being conducted within the RAIDO consortium.

EVENTS, CONFERENCES & WORKSHOPS

Second RAIDO Plenary Meeting – Thessaloniki, Greece September 17-19, 2024

We successfully completed our second plenary meeting in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, Greece, graciously hosted by our partners at MetaMind Innovations – MINDS. This three-day gathering brought together all RAIDO partners for intensive collaboration and strategic planning.

  • In-Person Collaboration: After months of virtual meetings, partners had the invaluable opportunity to meet face-to-face, fostering stronger relationships and more dynamic discussions
  • Strategic Planning: The meeting provided a focused environment for deep strategic planning, setting clear pathways for the next phases of our initiative
  • Progress Review: Comprehensive review of project progress across all work packages and pilot implementations
  • Future Directions: Collaborative discussions about the project’s evolution and upcoming challenge

The meeting was instrumental in strengthening our consortium bonds and ensuring alignment across all project activities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to MINDS for their exceptional hosting and to all partners for their active participation and valuable contributions.

PROGRESS & MILESTONES

We are making excellent progress toward our first major milestone, Deliverable D2.1, which is scheduled for completion in October 2024. The plenary meeting in Thessaloniki provided crucial coordination time for finalizing the deliverable components and ensuring all technical requirements are met.

This milestone represents a significant step forward in the RAIDO project, marking the completion of critical foundational work that will enable subsequent project phases.
